Degen.com review (2026): rakeback, provably fair and closed beta

We deposited $200 in USDC and played on the account for three weeks: every one of the eight Originals, a long stretch of slots, live roulette, and some parlays on CS2 matches we had no business betting on. We deposited and withdrew across several coins to see whether the first payout was representative or a fluke.

Provably fair is a claim almost every crypto casino makes and almost nobody checks, so we checked it. We copied the server seed, the client seed and the nonce out of a finished Dice session and ran them through an HMAC-SHA512 calculator by hand. The result matched the outcome the site had given us. The headline rate is 3% rakeback at Bronze I, rising to 8% at the top of a 28-rank ladder. The operator and the licence

Degen is run by Degen Legend Limitada, registered in Costa Rica as 3-102-932227, under gaming licence ALSI-202509061-FI2 from the Autonomous Island of Anjouan in the Union of Comoros. Both halves of that matter, and they are routinely conflated. Costa Rica does not issue gambling licences at all; it issues company registrations, so the Costa Rican entry carries no gaming oversight whatsoever. The Anjouan licence is the actual permit, and it is the one to judge.

Anjouan is a real licence with a documented dispute process behind it, and it is considerably lighter than a UK Gambling Commission or Malta permit. Under UKGC or MGA rules a player in a dispute can escalate to an independent adjudicator whose ruling binds the operator, with statutory fund segregation behind it. Anjouan has no equivalent and no compensation scheme standing behind your balance. It is widely held across crypto gambling, including by BC.Game and Duel, so it is standard for the sector.

Provably fair, and what it does and does not cover

This is the strongest thing on the page. Every Original combines a server seed that is hashed and committed before you play, a client seed you control, and an incrementing nonce, run through HMAC-SHA512. After a session you can reveal the raw server seed and check every outcome yourself. Because the implementation matches the scheme other casinos use, the third-party verifiers built for them work here too, so you are not auditing Degen with a tool Degen wrote.

What it does not cover is the slots, and that distinction gets blurred constantly. Only the eight Originals are verifiable. The other 2,000 games run ordinary licensed RNG at a typical 3% to 5% house edge, against roughly 1% on the Originals, and you are trusting a studio’s certificate exactly as you would anywhere else.

Account security

TLS encryption, two-factor authentication through an authenticator app, and the Vault: a separate balance, protected by its own 2FA step, that you can move funds into. It was built as a security feature and it doubles as a brake on yourself, which is most of what a responsible gambling tool is for. Registration takes about thirty seconds. Email, Google, Telegram, MetaMask or Phantom, then deposit and bet. There is no identity check at the door: no passport, no proof of address, no date-of-birth documentation beyond confirming you are 18.

Read that as no routine checks rather than no checks ever. Large or unusual withdrawals can still trigger an anti-money-laundering review, which is a legal obligation on every operator advertising no KYC. Standard play and standard withdrawals will not meet it. If you are planning to move something substantial, expect the possibility.

Turn on two-factor authentication before you fund the account. It takes a minute and it is the single most useful thing you can do to an account you are about to put money into.

Degen’s official Terms of Service shows no list of restricted or available countries. It only states: “If your jurisdiction explicitly prohibits online gambling or if you are located in any region we deem restricted, you must not access or use our Service.” Degen does hold an Anjouan licence, which likely prohibits it from operating in the jurisdictions listed below.

VPN policy

Taken directly from Degen’s terms of service as of 9 August 2026: “Any attempt to circumvent these restrictions (e.g., using VPNs or proxies) is a violation of these Terms”.

Degen is not the biggest casino in this space and does not try to be. The figures below come from our own reviews of each brand rather than from Degen’s marketing, because operator-published comparison tables tend to flatter the operator publishing them.

On raw volume Degen loses to all three of the larger sites. What it has is the combination: verifiable Originals, rakeback on everything, a sportsbook with real esports depth, and no identity check to get started, from one account. If any one of those is what you care about, something else probably does it better. If it is the intersection, that is a narrower field than the game counts suggest.

The closest comparison is Duel, which runs the same no-bonus model from a different direction: Originals at 99–100% RTP with instant rakeback calculated on the house edge. Degen is a well-built casino with an unusually honest core product. The provably fair implementation on the eight Originals is the real thing, verifiable by hand and against tools Degen did not write, and that is rarer than the number of sites claiming it would suggest. The interface is quick and uncluttered, the sportsbook is a genuine one with esports depth, and nine coins settle fast.

Two things stop it scoring higher, and neither is about the product. The rewards programme is the reason to choose Degen over a bigger catalogue, and it does not publish the one number that determines what it is worth, while its entry threshold sits at $10,000 of lifetime wagering. A casual player gets no welcome offer and never reaches the rakeback either. And the site is in closed beta, so every rate on this page is current rather than committed.

For a crypto-native player who was going to wager that volume anyway and values verifiability over catalogue size, it is a strong choice. For anyone depositing $50 to see how it goes, the weekly race is the only thing on offer until the wagering builds up.
